There seems to be a bluish cast to the sky that dissolves to a yellowish cast when it gets to the tree line...almost like you had a graduated neutral density filter on. Looks a bit funny...it darkens the tree tops and the line is really noticeable almost as if a clear blue window shade was pulled down.
Apparently, I'm spending too much time on the computer. Vinnie is lying under the desk making noises.......stop what you're doing and pet me noises lol. Nice shot....Rhododendrons?
Bummer....Fotki won't let me see this one in OU; all the other ones worked. I like this shot a lot...vertical works very well. I think the soft focus on the tree tops works nicely.....gives it a nice feeling. I think you might try to saturate the colors a bit more.
Appears to be one of the False Blister Beetles (Family-Oedemeridae). Could possibly be Nacerda melanura...that dark coloration at the end of the wing covers is a key; plus it is found on a flower which is a common thing for this Family.
Really nice shot in O.U. --- thanks, there was a lot of wind but I was lucky to get a few nice ones.
Interesting and large family of beetles. Many of them are serious pests of corn and small grains. Several of the "worms" in fruit and nuts are actually the larvae of snout beetles.
It is beautiful! Is that what they are - lotuses? ---- no, this is Nuphar lutea (cow lily) or Gele plomp in Dutch and in German it is called Gelbe Teichrose (had to look that one up :)
That must have looked awesome when they were all in bloom. --- yes, I was a bit late...I had no idea they were there but next year I will try and have a look earlier.
Is this a poppy seed plantation? Beautiful anyway. ----- well...it is a huge field with poppies, pink ones and our wild ones are red...so I guess these are planted . Never saw these before...maybe a new sort of crop they try and make money with?
Those flowers look like some kind of herbs. Like Myra said, it lifts the picture a bit. === Lythrum salicaria, we call it kattenstaart...cats tail...no idea why
