Ready for our little adventure

Hello Viviane,

At this point Gary was inside the locomotive, shoveling coals. Someones has to do that job while we were taking pictures....

just a little walk along the tracks

A scene from the new Indiana Jones movie, "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull," was shot in the area of the Essex station in July of last year. They used their other steam locomotive, number 97, for the filming, while this one kept the regular train rides on schedule.

Nicely done, Susi.

Just to add a little info about this locomotive--this is a 2-8-2 Mikado built by ALCO's Brooks Works in 1920. It recently underwent a complete re-build and was returned to service by the Valley Railroad only about a year ago, after 4 years of work.

Different class at Lime Rock Speedway

I lived a few miles from the track for many, many years and never went to a race. I find road courses a bit boring. I did go to Limerock for fireworks a few times with friends (back in high school) and had a great time. Once we tried to sneak into Limerock to see Paul Newman and Tom Cruise when they were there racing.

Peter Molenaar from (Holland) with his "Yale mug"

Hi Peter...looks like he feels at home there! :) great wall of fame Susi! :)

><><><
thanks Viv - he seemed to enjoy his stay - and the pics on the wall are of different places I've traveled and I just love to be reminded of it all - what better way than with a photo right there to see, and makes for great conversation when friends come over.
