Bubu....
Good hearing from you. We need to solve other issues now. It is true we have this problem, it is true we are not about to spend time on it since our people is yearning from attention and their everyday lunch and so on..Let's get them food, employment and teach them how to read first. Please let's move on...too many distractions from the real problems.
By the way good subject.. Hope others participate.

Carte d' Haiti

Hi Bubu
This is a nice subject of discussion and i think you are absolutely right. By experience, a teacher that speaks creole in class will be able to transmit the message better than another one who speaks French. Writing creole is not my thing but creole has his rules and orthograph. Who ever wants to learn it can do so by buying books. I am taking this opportunity to share with all readers that creole is spoken by more than 15 millions people all over the world. It's a very impressive number. Isn't it?

Carte d' Haiti

I am using a comment made in creole on Claude Marcelin's album as a springboard to launch a debate so to speak. It should not be directed to him ( I think he is a great guitarist) nor to the anonymous person who made the comment. I want to BE CLEAR on that.

The comment is written in creole as you all can see. I do not have a problem with that. ( Chacun a sa façon de voir les choses). Personally I never learned how to read or write creole. ( it's a bit difficult for me to read it although I speak it fluently, after all I am Haitian 100%). For those who visit pikliz, do you think it should be taught in school in Haiti and / or used as an auxiliary means of communication to teach in school ?

My position on that ( I am sure many folks will disagree with me) is creole should not be taught in school. It could be used to explain certain subject (either math - chemistry - or physics etc) but it should not be considered as our language. I am against the fact the Haitian Passport and some of our Currencies are in 2 languages ( french and creole). All comments are welcome.

PLEASE BE MINDFUL OF OTHERS READING THE COMMENTS. Respect OTHERS. I will used a pseudonym to make it interesting.

Comments can either be posted in English, French or Creole. Lets make this an interesting debate using pikliz.com as a link that is connecting everyone regardless of their point of view and background.

Thank you.

P.S. I want to reiterate again that my comment is no way intended to insult anyone (Ti Claude and the person who posted the comment.) By the way , I hope you are doing well Ti Claude). We like to hear from you . Drop a line sometimes: Français , Kreol , English (rire).

Bubu.

Eglise St. Anne à Port-au-Prince

I left Haiti in 1961. I can remember this church as a young boy. I lived not too far from it.

Stade Sylvio Cator à Port-au-Prince.

This picture brings back so many memories. A final for instance between the Racings Athletic Club and Aigle Noir. The entire Port-au-Prince at this only Stadium; young, old, not so young etc etc. Everyone's automobile bearing the flag of their favorite team. Every one betting money on their team. Those who could not make it were listening to the broadcast live on Radio Port-au- Prince. During intermission some good tunes by N .J. Baptiste. At that time we could not imagine watching a game live on television (let alone replay or slow motion etc etc) C' etait le bon vieu temps. On était jeune, sans souci .
By the way, for those who don' t know Silvio Cator was Mayor of Port-au- Prince in 1946 and was born in Cavaillon near Les Cayes.

Richard Duroseau, 2006

Another great musician. Ti Richard Duroseau faisait " ronfler " son accordéon avec l' ensemble NJB. Unquestionably the best accordeoniste there is.

Joe Truillot remains one of the best musicians of the 50's & 60's together with G. Durosier and Raoul Guillaume & Issah Saeigh. Ils etaient tous " la crème de la Crème.

I GET VERY SAD WHEN I LOOK AT PICTURE LIKE THIS. IT CINFIRMS IN MY SPIRIT WHY JESUS CAME TO SAVE ALSO THE HAITIAN PEOPLE. LETS BATHE IN THE BLOOD OF JESUS WHO WASHES SIN INSTEAD OF GLORIFYING SATAN BY DOING THIS.

Guest A SERVANT wrote: May 6, 2008 - 5:19 PM

THIS IS WHAT WE NEED TO SEE AS PICTURES OF THE CHILDREN OF HAITI OUR FUTURE GENERATION NOT CHILDREN BATHING IN MUD LIKE PIGS . GOD DID NOT MAKE THE HUMAN BEING TO BATHE IN MUD, THAT IS WHY HE TOOK HIM OUT OF THE MUD.
