Truly weird..I must comment. I received this page when I accidentally typed my password into a search engine by mistake. Most of my computer passwords are some variation of the word sperber, a crazy guy who used to call me when I was a music director of a college radio station 10 years ago. This is probably that guy because I remember he was married to a women I spoke to at another label. This is off the wall, but I thought it warranted a comment. If this is the Jeff from Mcgathy..cheers...didn't mean to creep you out. Oh by the way.. looks like you had a good trip.

Where did you purchase the Lower Dash unit?

I cannot seem to find it in the US or Euro Sites I have tried.

    Thanks,
    Luis

I have a V1 and put mine up behind the rear view mirror, did you take your dash apart and install it there? I'm confused with your pictures. Let me know! Thanks.

I have been trying to buy a roof rack for my TT, but was told by Audi that it was discontinued due to production problems and that the only way to find one was to search dealerships for one that was still in stock. Any suggestions?

    tire insert1

    Larry,

Thanks for posting the tire insert article. I never got one with my 2001 TT Coupe. The little pictogram on the fuel filler cap is a bit ambiguous to say the least. This clears it up for me.

AOA haven't a clue what the pressures should be, I called them before I saw your posting here.

    Thanks!

    Tom

    Larry,

You have a nice page congratulations!

I agree with your idea to ground the Haldex unit, but may I make a suggestion?

Replace the #14 Copper wire with a braided WIDE ground strap, used for grounding radio equipment. You should be able to buy them pre-made with ends on them that will accomodate the 13mm bolts or whatever, under the TT.

What you have done is made an electrical connection between the Haldex and the frame. Radio frequency intereference works on the 'skin effect' of electricity, that is to say you can IMPROVE what you have done, by adding a wider path for interference to follow to ground.

If you were to take an ohmmeter and read between the frame of the TT and the Haldex with EITHER your wire or the WIDE STRAP in place it will read 0 ohms, indicating continuity ( a direct connection )

To best take advantage of your connection, add a wider strap in it's place. Case in point, we could use #22 gauge wire and still get a 0 ohm reading, but the dissipation of RF interference or road static would be minimal.

I'm sure your wire works! It's just that a strap will work better.

I am a FCC licensed radio operator, btw, that's where I get the information.

    Cheers,

    J T
