Looks like the "jungle" in Ecuador is endangered. Like the ecology in the United States. Is there a better economic paradigm? One that does not kill our host ... Earth?
Hello and thank you for visiting. The jungle there is in fact, endangered. Banana plantations and other plantations are easily visible from the river. This particular photo, however, is not in the actual jungle, but in the hills over the city of Banos.
Thanks Ilya. Your photo did not look like my idea of a jungle but I have never seen a jungle, either. Now I know. When I was in high school in the early 1960s (Connecticut) my best friend Bob was a genius. His Dad was a city planner and they moved to Quito, Ecuador, for a couple years. When Bob returned he showed me photographs of Ecuador and told me stories. In particular, I remember his photos of the colorful markets in Guayaquil. He said, "what you can't see is the smell of the filth and poverty." He then told me about the prostitutes. I learned that every picture may tell a story, but it is not the whole story.
alas, no. These are buses frequently foundon Colombian backroads. Although many are now used for tourist-related activities, these are still the choice of vehicles on the backroads of Colombia.
