I have no clue. All I know is that it really stood out from 100 yards away. The photo doesn't really do the tree justice. The leaves are even brighter than they look here. Maybe I'll go back to catch it at sunset when it's lit even better. The tree only looks golden in this photo, but the yellow was alot deeper like a buttercup. I still liked the color combo enough to make this a keeper shot.
The only time I've ever seen more intense colors was the day I was travelling north of Las Vegas and hit a brilliant red patch of desert under a deep blue sky. The colors were so intense that they didn't even look real. I wish I had a camera then!
I love the brilliant blue summer skies out here in Oregon. They're nothing like the perpetually overcast grey to pale blue skies in central New York. I'm surprised that so far I'm the only person taking art photos here in Corvallis. There are subjects just begging for a shot everywhere you turn.
Thank you, but the REAL credit should go to the artist who concieved of it. it was an easy pic to shoot. I laughed my butt off when I first saw it. There are many sculptures by this person around town I think. I think they also did the lovely sculpture of the ballerina in this gallery too as well as a few other whimsical pieces. All I did was document it.
I bet this pic would be even batter if I took it before noon when it would cast a shadow to the right.
Thank you. I'm thinking of going back to reshoot all of the Willamette River shots at sunrise for better lighting. You can see some lens flare in this shot in the upper right corner. I bet the tree will really pop when it's directly lit instead of shaded and the early light should be less diffused. The background trees will be darker too. i think I'll even take my shoes off ang get out in the water for a better composition.
I'm just getting back into photography and this was my first day of dedicated digital art shots.
Thanks for stopping by. I hope to find some more nice shots here. Corvallis is a very photogenic town to live in. It's MUCH harder to find "beauty" shots in Syracuse NY.
