Ed....a how-to conversion on this Coronet "Phantom/What If" model is tentatively scheduled for Model Cars Issue #168, May/June 2012.  See your issue 166 (Contest Issue), p. 27, for a "sneak peak" of that magazine cover.  Thanks for the compliments; truly appreciated, particularly given your past as you note.

      Best regards...TIM

Oh my goodness.  There's going to be one problem with this kit, I can see.  I won't be able to afford one (out of work).  What an incredible engine!  If the builder wires and plumbs the engine, and replace the belt, this will be a show-stopper!

Swapped parts include the louvered hood, the Navarro flathead parts, dual exhaust, dropped front axle, and whitewall tires.

They made a curbside promo, which this looks like it is based upon. Listed as a '74 but the rear bumper more like a '73. My sister had one of these in dark blue. Great model!

How did you get the finish on those valve covers?

Flat red hobby paint (either Testors or Tamiya, can't recall which), thinned to the consistency of skim milk and applied with a brush.  Best regards....TIM

Tim  I found this old AMT Construction flyer with a picture of the Link-Belt that you mention,  but was never made.  Len Feinberg mailto:fnplastics@aol.com
