You did a nice job, in spite of the well worn old MPC tooling. It looks really good. One thing, tho. The Malco Super Vette was a 58-60 Vette with the 4 headlights. The actual Malco Super Vett kit (issued first in 1972, and reissued with a different box and decals in 1974) would have the proper wheels. The box art model for your kit was for an older issue of that kit, and it was revised a few times since then. Apparently,m when RC2 reissued that kit, they didn't bother changing the wheels back. As someone who used to build box art models for AMT/Ertl, I can tell you that this sort of thing happens all the time, and on a much larger scale. Great case in point, the second issue of the AMT new tool '57 Chevy with a pink 2 door post sedan on the box, and a 2 door hardtop inside. Anyway, once again I think your build looks great.
I'm enjoying this look at your work! I have an old issue of an east coast car mag from the early 60's that has this car featured. If I can locate it, I will forward a copy to you.
The car was featured on the cover of Car Craft somewhere around 63. I wrote to the museum and they gave me the correct colors to do the car in as the box art was not correct
It is from the funny car kit. I adapted another front hood and filled in the gaps and I made the fender flairs to match the front wheel wells. I had to also adapt the interior tub and floorpan.
Dwayne, thanks for sharing your photos. There were so many great models there. I am honored to find that you captured three of mine in your collection of photos. Do you mind if I save them and share them?
