Respectfully submitted-I have to dispute the year. Those Austin PD Crown Vic's are 1988-1991 models but remembering how violent Dallas was at the time sadly you are correct.
No- your eyes are correct. Texas DPS also had mechanical sirens on the Imperials and diplomats in the early eighties on simular style lightbars. Some of the units had them under the hood.
Another surplus Kansas Highway Patrol vehicle that saw its public life extended as a police vehicle as small town police vehicle. Interesting color! The KHP also had some Crown Vic's that were metallic red.

These Malibus had a 305 4bbl. My father drove one and was assigned to the Turnpike. They were cramped inside, but were fun to drive with tight steering and great handling.
Those rims were standard issue for the Malibu's of the time. Fort Worth Police had the same rims on their cars. San Diego Co. Sherriff had green ones to match the green paint on the green and white cars. This was the last year of blue and white cars for Hurst. In 1982 they went to white Malibu's.
Those lightbars started showing up on Tarrant Co., TX law enforcement agencies in 1977. In August 1977 Haltom City equipped their new cars and some fire equipment with these lightbars. They were a common sight around the region in the late 70's and early 80's. They were made in Fort Worth. They were also used by the Marine Corps on Okinawa and Camp Pendleton, CA.
This is about 1989. There are other photos from this spot. I lived in Fort Worth and remember a police officer being killed in the line of duty. I think it was a funeral percession.

A lot you must know about police vehicles. The departments do not take off the side moulding. They come from the factory that way, with the door side moulding in the trunk. It is up to the agency whether they want to apply it after they apply their graphics.

So many agencies take the strip of skirting on the front doors off, it seems silly to have left it on in this case. It cuts right through the badge, and it clear isn't that vital, or all the other departments in America would've kept it on too.

Guessing by the bar, I'd have said '98 to maybe 2002 or '03, but those hub caps are more recent than that. From what I already saw in the racine section of this album, it seems like old lightbars are popular in Wisconsin.

Jesus! And there I was saying gumballs were out of place on a 1990s caprice! What's this, a 1998 or 99 CV. They're real scared of change in Racine, aren' they?

Looks like an MP5 in the gun rack. I thought cops usually had shotguns, but the MP5 is certainly a good choice too, if not better.Only a semi-automatic though. I'll shut up now, I know this is copCAR dot com, not copGUN.
