with a tiny bit of cropping away the not-blue parts on the left and the right you have a fabulous shot...really nice!

I am not a shopaholic myself...as a matter of fact I hate shopping...but sometimes I just like to look around in shops like this. They smell exotic too eh? Like you are on a trip far away! And of course a bookshop, CD shop and computer and camera shop are very popular with me!

Yes that happens here too:) but obviously not often enough as they have done it for the past 5 and a half years we have been here and long before that.

very clean everywhere you look! not like the Netherlands...it used to have such a good reputation for being very clean but lately it is really filthy!

very modern! they tend to look alike all over the world lately...different colours but same design. I love the antique ones in UK ...the red ones!

not much crime in Upper Hutt I guess? it all looksso friendly and manageable...not the oversized buildings we are having. All this is much more to human scale...right?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We are not on the lowest step on the crime ladder. People get murdered and raped just like in any other town. One always hears the sirens from police and ambulances here.
City center:)
NO WAY!!!!!!! city center? you must be joking! NO cars on that roundabout! what a luxury!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was closing time. It is quite busy really, I had to wait quite a while to take this photo as I respect the privacy of drivers and foot passengers. Also I could get into trouble if someone sees his/her photo or car and complains.

Main Street

looks like there is quite a large variety of shops!
I like the layout, just two floors...much better than the high buildings we hare...they are so unpersonal.

Retro Hair

OK...tell me, what are you up to??? I would not be surprised to see a few hairshots from you very very soon! LOL
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I haven't been there since I took the photo as I don't go to that part of Main Street often.
perfect coffee is always hard to find! I love my coffee so I am sort of difficult to please and I try and avoid the coffee shops...but sometimes I just need one and then I go to the Italian expresso bar!
wow, you have everything in one shop it seems?
do they sell such a variety? we don't have those here...only huge ones with several floors or speciality shops.
Yes - they have a large variety of pretty much everything a crafty heart desires. They are not cheap either. One can create china stuff one self and they hold various classes for kiddies and grown ups. Next time I see someone doing stuff for them selves I'll aks if I can take a photo, it is really interesting.
Your town looks like an American town:-) Places I have seen in photos only. I have not been anywhere else but New York myself. Thank you for this tour! Now I need my morning coffee. And the summer day is sunny, a drive to the countryside would be nice. If Lasse agrees.. Thank you so much for viewing my photos of my Fotki friends visiting Finland. There will be more of those... Keep shopping and spending his money:-)
Rapala, this Finnish company became famous for it's lures etc. The end part of the logo just caught my eye:-)
Great bright colours! You should have entered the contest, my photo was 51th, I always take part if I can possibly find a pic. Sports was impossible for me. Only had women's marathon in Helsinki World Championships in athletism. The runners did not look exhausted at all:-) Just as if they had been jogging.. I followed it then in Sibelius Park near my home.
