Cereus peruvianus

I have received a small piece of this plant from a friend for my birthday.I have been told it's beautiful.I have never heard of a Night Blooming Plant ever before.I was able to to get the leaf of the plant on the computer. The leaves on my plant look like a dandelion leaf .So hopefully I got the real history on the plant that I have received. As it is a Night bloomer which starts to open at dusk each day.
If you have more imformation for me I would love to see the leaves and some more imformatio .
Thank you

They do not live in Sydney! Too wet and humid.

Nice photo--Are you certain this isn't Echium russicum? All the E. wildpretii I've observed blooms purple.

The middle one looks almost artificial. I wonder if they can withstand a storm?
