Volucella inanis male

I'm amazed that you can get so close and get the E8700 to focus...even at wide angle. I occasionally use a Coolpix 5700 and find it almost impossible to focus manually.

Syrphidae for sure. I am always amused by those who think it's a bee, because of its coloration.

We don't have this species but its relatives abound.

Anthidium manicatum

Very nice; I can see all the cells in its wings, which makes identification easier.

Rana temporaria - Vanlig Frosk

The most abundant form of this Genus in Wisconsin is Rana pipiens. More green color; not as brown.

Epilobium angustifolium - Geitrams

We have this plant. Locally it is called Fireweed due to its propensity to colonize areas recently burned.

Rubus idaeus - Bringebær

We have this plant here in abundance. We call it Red Raspberry. Nothing tastier than a bowl full of berries....my favorite.
