Actually, these vehicles were made by BMC factories, Izmir, Turkey. They are derivatives of the Leyland Sherpa. So the correct name is BMC TM30 Diesel. They had 1800 cc BMC diesel engines. They were produced as cab+chassis, pickup, van and minibus versions. The one shown here is produced before 1984, when they had a facelift with a different front end and rectangular headlamps.
Resin front and rear bumpers, fenderflares, and lower sidepanels. The latter are casted in one piece for each side. Also a PE fret, with exterior, and interior parts. Flap gears, pedals, speakergrills, etc. Exterior have 14 grills, mirrors, emblems, etc. The kit also have resin wheels, with alu valvestems.
I have the simpler version of this kit and the high tech version of the TR3, plus Minicraft's TR3a. I'd love to get Air Trax's TR4. Can you take pics of the transkit's contents?
After reading about the Bluebird coupe I looked for one on ebay and got one from a guy in Australia. The body is real nice but the interior is disappointing. I'm thinking of trying to scratchbuild an interior whenever I get around to building it.
Then we are thinking likewise. I'm also wondering about using a modified Hasegawa 510 sedan interior. Have yet to try if they are the same size. Anyway the Hasegawa model will probably be needed as a guide on detail sizes. I have thought about using the Hasegawa kit, just moving the roof section, and other different looking parts, over from this kit. Think that will make the best model.
