Alces alces americanus. I remember the first one of these I saw in the wild. I couldn't believe how big it was. Clearly.......one could have driven a Volkswagen under its belly.
Spermophilus parryii (I had to look this one up in the book). I figured the Genus correctly but didn't know the specific epithet. Interestingly.......his last name is quite similar to yours.
Ursus horribilis......1200 mm is a good distance to be away. In Montana we'd carry beer cans with rocks and rattle them a lot. Let the bears know we were in the area.
Nice exposure. Must have been hard with all the white in the background and all that dark in the forebround. I'll bet a polarizer whould have darkened that sky a bit...just enough to contrast with the white of the snow. _____________________________
Mike, I believe I used a polarizer on this image to do just what you proposed because the sky had lots of white clouds that didn't contrast well with the snow on the mountain. Al Perry
Beautiful. Just.........beautiful! Is this a stitched panorama or a narrowly cropped shot? I'm going to vote for the latter. ______________________________
Mike, Thanks for your favorable comment. It is a 5 image panorama stitched together. Each of the 5 images are in portrait mode to give me more pixels from top to bottom. Al Perry
Perfect! I didn't know you were into sports too. Another dimension for an already talented man. _______________________
Mike, You are right, I am not a sports photographer, but I was asked to take a few images and agreed. 99 degrees, high humidity, in the sun, and camera equipment was baking. Al Perry ================= I've been there. Also been in the rain spawned by the heat and humidity.
Hi Al........How'd you so this? Is this possible in Photoshop? Might work out well...horizontally...for a baton pass in a relay. __________________ Mike,
I did it in PS. Open image files, create new blank canvas big enough to drag each image file onto canvas. Make sure dpi of canvas is same as image files.
alp ================== Thanks for the hint. I'm going to give it a try.
