backlit aspen 6994

Excellent. I'm betting it took 10 exposures or more to find the right combination. YOU FOUND IT!

Mike,
I bracket many of the scenic and difficult to meter shots---1.) meter reading, 2.) -1/2 stop, 3.) +1/2 stop.

shooting into sun with aspen 6910

There's an art-form to shooting into the sun. What kind of filter did you employ to get the sun-burst effect?

Mike,
No filter. f13 or more will give you the sun-burst effect. I used f16 on this image.

aspen leaves 5439

Populus tremuloides. Never seen red leaves on an aspen before. Ours turn only yellow.

Mike,
Difficult to find any red aspen leaves this year.

Wow Al......THIS is a beauty. I'd like to see a tighter crop of the head and antlers as well as the whole enchalada.

antelope canyon 5619

the rock formation is caused by under-ground rivers right?
________________________________

Kim,

Slot canyons usually formed from cracks in sandstone rock and surface water cutting through rock from the top down. Underground water usually forms caves in limestone rock.

Jim,

The LST 325 was used by the Greek Navy as an intelligence vessel before being brought back to U.S. I'll ask my Greek friend for the meaning of the letters.
