Almost all macro work I do is handheld. The extreme closeups of the paper wasps (mistakenly called them yellow jackets) are from a tripod.

Very nice. These are very different from the ones we call yellow jackets. Ours are quite a bit more yellow in color and more stout in shape. They aren't particularly big but they make up for that with attitude...if you know what I mean. They are starting to make real pests of themselves here as they do every year at this time.
