I have a M1 with the exact same serial number on the barrel (SA 6535488) on it but with different following numbers. Do you have any idea what's up with that?

Mark, that's not a "serial number". It's a drawing number; a code used by the military do identify manufacturer of a part, what heat lot the part was produced in, etc. There are likely thousands of barrels with that same number on it. *PIT*
