I love these Aussie 'covered veranda's'...... I am not sure what the correct name is....... given the climate they must be very practical.......
==========
They are a great idea, they allow the lower winter sun to get in but stop the higher summer sun from warming the house too much. They're great to sit on in the evening when it's cooler as well.
This is very interesting...... The First World War saw many young men volunteering, and losing their lives in Europe. It is fitting to remember them.

Right on, we have our Annual Anzac Day celebration this Friday. Alex's Dad is here from ther west for a couple of weeks for my youngest son's 21st birthday and he's too old to march now, but we'll take some chairs down so he can sit and be part of the service near the War Memorial down town. He was in the British Navy and was at Normandy for D Day.
yeah, that's why the quality's a bit bodgy, they don't let you get too close. This guy was beside the road driving out west last week, enjoying the water from some recent rain. .......
I have the same problem...... I can never get near enough.....I have more luck with flowers :-) They don't move so much, unless it is very windy!!!!
It is a beauty!~golden boy/girl! cannot see that but I can see it is reading a book...I think. and yes, David is right...the scan I have from my kid is very vague too...I will try and scan mine in too!

Yeah we looked for ours and some were ruined, they were on heat sensitive paper, but I scanned the ones from our oldest son.
