This is the third floor, ironically the wall stayed put with all the plaster (no cracking really either) and the floor just dropped. At its deepest point the floor is about 1.75" from the bottom edge of the wood trim/molding.  The floor sags the most dead center and the floor will true up at each end.

This wall is slightly set back from the two walls on the subsequent floors below it. The offset is about 12" back from where the wall below is at. The former vent register from that routed up from the second floor comes out in the floor of the third floor.

This is where the butchers ran an additional HVAC line to the third floor. That HVAC line is since removed as its been shut off from the new HVAC installation.

Like the first floor the butchers cut entirely through the second floor support joist to force the HVAC line through.  They also repeated their handy work on third floor joist that ran east west that support the joists just above it that run north south.

This is the second floor wall that is currently opened up.  The tilt in the floor on this level is not too bad until you get near the wall its self and you notice a pretty solid dip.  Note the first and second floor joist run left to right (east/west) if you are outside looking at the front of the house.  Oddly the third floor joist run north/south.

The pass thorough you see here was for a closet that no longer exists on the other side.  This was walled off many years ago so they could enlarge the center bedroom.  The support from the closet and this wall are what mutually supported the third floor joists.  Since one wall was remove outright, this wall is all that's left.

This is more of a vertical view if you were laying on your back and looking strait up. You can see where they cut out the doubled up beam and then shored in a not so thick beam in an feeble attempt to compensate for the destruction they created. The first floor level is all sorts of off because of this. I have removed most of the creaking and this floor will not drop any more with the aid of the two lolly columns.

This is in the basement where the butchers started their handy work back in the 1970's  Not the HVAC system was replaced late summer of 2010.   Where you see the fresh lumber is where the olde vent register used to go to first floor for the living room and the parlor.

All registers for the first floor were shut down or removed and new registers were added.  Note the new duct work going upward to the second floor.  There is one additional beam on the far side that was added later. (probably when they realized they screwed up really badly)

This wall on the first floor has since been closed. I also added some additional structure because the floor on the second floor could flex. Since these additions the floor no longer flexes.

This is where I first realized there was a major problem.  The home owners in circa 1970 cut away support beams on the first second and third floor. This wall sits on top of one of those support beams. I have opened up this wall to remove a vent register they installed for the first floor and to replace the HVAC tube leading to the second floor.

This is the front of 406 School Street. We own the right side of the Twin.  If you need to reference any of the original floor plan the mirror of our twin is accessible.
