Don Burke, Charlie Greenwald, Dick Bodycombe, Barb and Don Sutton. The famous $1.00 spinner airplanes from China on the milkcrate. We sold many of those over the years.
This is hangar one bay four. I worked here for a number of years when it was leased by ERIM. It's interesting to see the place when it was only a year or so old.

Original watercolor by Yankee member Linda Terentiak as a memorial for Debbie Stewart
I REMEMBER SONNY FROM WHEN WE WERE BOTH POWS IN GERMANY DURING WW II. HE ORGANIZED ENTERTAINMENT AND PERFORMED. . HIS SHOWS WERE ONE OF THE FEW BRIGHT SPOTS DURING OUR CONFINEMENT AT THE AIR FORCE OFFICER'S CAMP AT BARTH, GERMANY, STALAG LUFT 1. I ENJOYED HIS BOOK AND RECOMMEND IT TO ALL.
Thanks Dave for wonderful, photo coverage and heres to another Bistro, 19 April o8. The only correction to the photo from last year is. Lew Major and his wife. The most capable lady is Lew Major's sister-in law Connie, who is available to someone who could make her a wife. We had some fun, especially my wife Charlotte, who also worked that night. Now if I was a Mormon-----No nevermind--smile

Behrns is the pilot smiling whose profile covers the lower left corner of the map. He first saw this picture in 2006 and recognizes only a few of the pilots. Notice the art work (dragon eye and tooth)on the cowling of the Allison engine, part of the special 459th Twin Dragon paint scheme.

When this nose art was created Linda Terentiak, she did not have access to a complete shot of the nose, thus there is no "The" on this work as there is on the 1/5 scale model by Greg. Pony tail is in the wrong spot too.

Behrns says the Japanese soon learned not to go head to head with the P-38 as the concentrated fire power of the four .50 caliber and one 20mm would shred an Oscar with a short burst.

Greg is a highly experience RC flyer, but the crosswinds still got him. He'll start rebuilding her in Feb 2008. New wings are already ordered and he plans to take her to Calif again this summer for another flight.

At the time he flew The SJS, Bill Behrns was a Lieutenant, but was discharged from the Air Corps as a Captain. The SJS was destroyed in a buzzing incident while being flown by Lt Burger of the 459th Fighter Squadron. the shell casing ejection ports were custom made by Greg
