There are panel lines missing at the cowl to the door and seam lines to remove at this point as well. The 57 I'm replicating with this build did not have the optional windshield washer water bottle.
Seam lines of the roof ands sink marked on the hood needed a little help with Tamiya putty. This putty doesn't shrink like Squadron but hardens up harder so extra care is needed for sanding it smooth. The fender edges appear to be the seam lines too so I smoothed the edge so paint can adhere better and reduce the risk of polishing through at those points. Other than that the body is good although the script is a little soft on this ModelKing issue.
This is a model my grandson built when he was too young to paint. The body is polished plastic with brushed detail painting. This kit is required as a donor for the resin sedan delivery and to do it the way I did you'd also need the optional parts from the Revell Ford Focus kit.
Everything is done except the roof, it needed to go back for a re-paint. The wheel surrounds were chrome so they got stripped and painted with Model Master Black Chrome trim paint. The blue body is now the correct 1970's Hemi Orange just like my 1:1 scale is. The MiniLites got a black wash to draw out the details.
Detailed as close to my real one as I could. The roof is back in the paint booth after a too agressive polishing session. It's the older body but close as I could get to my 1978. The Mini purist will see the differences but the average Joe probably wouldn't.
The tease. I test drove this one and told the dealership if they could get a red Cooper S I'd buy it. They didn't get one and still haven't but that didn't stop me at all.
Revell missed the pull rings so I made a set out of Evergreen half round to match the size of the back rings that Revell did mold in. The rear part of the bumper got painted ModelMaster Chrome Trim black that came out so well you can't tell I did anything here at all. Tires are scuffed so all that's missing is the license plates, then I'll call it done.
This wasn't at the 2007 Fleetwood Country Cruisin, it was in the parking lot of a wedding I went to right after I left the Cruisin and I thought it was rather unique.
