How cute! We have got only 2 snake species, and a third which looks snaky but is a lizard without legs. The viper is a poisonous one we have. But people always carry serum with them if they live in such areas where the viper lives. They are also very shy. But you might be picking berries and putting your hand on one by accident..

Poor thing! my heart was broken into pieces in Chile, Peru, Costa Rica, Mexico etc for the abuse abamdonment and carelessness of dogs specially on the part I visit in Chile "near the Andes" they are just skin and bones and no body cares even member of the church.
