I thought that , for sheer contrast, you would enjoy a few views of another library. I need to work on the very dark pics, but the brighter ones will give you the flavor of this hidden treasure. http://public.fotki.com/JoMill/quincy_public_library/ Joel
Jerry, this is a terrific idea. I hope that you eventually are able to come up with history information for all of the CT libraries. The pictures are great!
I was actually searching for old pictures of this house and stumbled upon your web-site. I purchased this house a few months back, and was curious to know what the house originally looked like.
Bethel is a small and nice quiet town with lots of historical houses. The other nice part about it is the schools all being in one location called "Educational Park". If people are looking for a nice place to live Bethel would be a nice town to live in. I have been here for 12 years and love it.
Alice Edgerton Rothschild was a remarkable lady. Her wisdom and gentle nature will not be forgotten. One of her favorite words to ponder were "Why do the have to call it Trial and Error, why can't it be Trial and Success". She had made her observations on life and let it be known in only the way she could. A modern version of Henry David Thoreau comes to mind. She lived in the woods with a brook running through and a road lined with hemlocks she herself had planted. A very special lady indeed.
