After my brother introduced me to the world of GI Joe in 1990, Downtown was the first figure I bought, at the local Kay Bee in the Poughkeepsie Galleria, sometime in either late 90 or early 91.
Nice Mustang I remember that unit. I work at the Ford Plant where the Mustang is built and right now we are making the 2013 models. The 2013 Shelby's are great. On my site that is Carrol Shelhy signing a T-Shirt for me
Cool! The new Mustang is probably my favorite current car on the road...I have not seen the 2013 Shelby yet, but I am sure I will soon! I like your travel pics, too...the only thing I've found that is as interesting or moreso than automobiles is ancient history, especially Rome!
The photo taken and upload dates on the top right are correct. As you can see, it came out very blurry, not good enough to use. I finally got around to re-photographing it in March of 2012, but I left the bad image on my hard drive the whole time- from November 8th, 2010 to April 1st, 2012- so I would remember which kit I had to photograph.
The sad thing about all this? I had the kit easily accessible the whole time, I just couldn't get motivated to photograph it. Let alone build any of it! But a quick trip through my boxart album would show any visitior that I build much slower than I need to if I ever want to finish my entire kit stash.
By the way, this kit was issued in 1967. Because it is from Pyro, not known for quality, and 1/32 scale, shunned by most car modelers, you can pick up this whole series of kits for around $10. That's what I paid for this one according to the price tag on the end of the box. Pyro went out of buisness in the early 70s, I believe.
Kind of funny that they made this truck as a Ford...the real one was a Chevrolet. In fact, the last time I saw it in person, it had "Have you driven over a Ford lately?" on the tailgate...of course, the Ford tagline at the time was "Have you driven a Ford...Lately?"
Mars is on the left (dead center), an airplane in the middle, and Venus on the right, Jupiter is obscured by trees. It's kind of blurry because I was standing in my back yard next to a row of bushes when I heard rustling in them. It was too late for birds and squirrels, and I really didn't want to come face to face with a skunk, racoon, or possum, so I took off. Unfortunatly I heard the rustling right as I was taking the photos!
By the way, the blue Pontiac Wagon with the red nose, second from left in the far column, was our family car at the time. It was gone before I was born, taken out in a sideswipe accident in LG.
