ooh, I know those animals, when I was a kid I sat on one of them (well almost sat, cause my mom yelled at me not to sit on him). :) --- ouch. way to go mom :)
but what animal is this? (pardon my ignorance...) -- this is a porcupine...the hair is actually hollow "needles". hollow to help keep it warm, and needles that keep preditors away. if a fox or bear, or dog touches one, the needles stick in them, and wont come out easily. they are very painful, and can break off into the bloodstream and travel to the heart, killing its attacker. I worked with wild animals many years, and i have suffered getting stuck with these needles in the hand. getting them out is very painful and hard...trust me.
but not so great as this shot, nor as the beautiful beautiful croc!!!!! I would like to kiss the beast, but then I remember they can kill me, so I better not! :D --- um yeah - as you can see - he/she was not impressed with me as i disturbed its sunbathing....soon as my shutter went click - the eye opened....so - i advise against kissing him....(plus i dont think his breath would be all that refreshing...)
-- prairie dog :) amazing animal. when i was in boulder, colorado...they were everywhere - and i can watch them for hours. you sit there and there are 100's of holes in the dirt. they hear you so the hide. if you sit perfectly still, one will pop out to see if the coast is clear...then he chirps, and another one pops out...and if you dont move, they all come out, and start playing and wrestling, until you LOL at them and they all go back in the holes...and then one comes back out - and well - it all repeats...
I love the face!!!!! and it's a great shot!!! ~Michelle~ --- I have never seen a face like this - it is called a hog nose porcupine, or something like that....usually they look more like a groundhog
Delicate, rafined and sensual... This is how I see this picture and the woman obviously. I love the warm colors in the background, warm shades of beige.
