Could this repair be done with the sleeves in place? Not sure how the rest of the tractor is, tranny, etc. as I bought it not running, with what was explained as a blown head gasket. When I removed the head I found similar cracks. Very minimal wear on cylinders, valves need work, ordered parts, but not sure how far to go untill I know the rest works. Thanks for any advice you may have. Thanks
What's the advantage to changing to a distributer? I just bought a frozen '48 c with a magneto, starter and generator. I have no experience with a mag. My carb is missing. What is your carb make and model on the '41 and '45 C?
I have a truck like this from my Dad I am trying to get a year , model and so on. I am not intersted in selling but have sevaral large trucks I am trying to Identify. Thank You.
MAGIC BULLET; IF A PERSON DOES NOTHING FOR THIS CRACKED CASTING PROBLEM, WHAT KIND OF PROBLEMS CAN WE EXPECT? THE CYLINDER LINERS CAN STILL DO THERE WORK, RIGHT? DOES IT IMPACT VACUUM TO THE CARB?
Thanks for sharing this information and the excellent photos. I have a Model C. The engine needs a rebuild and there are cracks between the cylinders. The cracks are very tight, no spreading. Do you recommend installing tie bolts?
Sir; I've got 1 more question for you. On my 1940 "B" it has a magneto, 12 volt batt, and electric starter. There is no generator or holes for brackets for one. There was an old regulator (I think) that was on it but there was no wiring hooked to it. To charge the battery and run lights what do I need to do. Does the magneto put out extra voltage to take the place of a generator? I'm no mechanic so if you can answer me on this one, please keep it simple. Thanks again, Jim Jones Arkansas
I have a 1940 "B" that I am taking apart for restoration. I am having a problem getting the steering arm off. I've taken off the outside nut and when trying to pull off the steering arm it acts like there maybe a snap ring or something holding it, don't know. It might just be stubborn. Can you give me any ideas? Your pictures were great. I've bought a couple of manuals for the "B" from e-bay but they really don't have very good skematics to see how thing come apart. Thank you, Jim Jones Arkansas
