I have been aware of this for a long time, it can really make a HUGE difference even in a mediocore photo.

Exactly, Mary. Art is more about the skill of the artist than the subject matter. Proper use of light/textures, repeated patterns/parallel lines and good composition, such as this Rule of Thirds can elevate the mundane into, at least some element of, art form. I've only seen a few of your many images and am interested in the Far East. Your Great Wall shots are far and away different from what I've seen previously and some of them are masterfully framed.
