*hugs* I can see the scar and everything. You will be ok. I'm happy to see your attitude is still positive because that's an important part of your recovery. BTW one of my best friends was diagnosed with scarring alopecia (the kind that doesn't grow back) when she was 21. It's still a mystery what caused it since she barely braided her hair and stuff. I will keep you both in my prayers.
How is that spot doing since your setback? Nice to see you're not discouraged by it. Happy hair growing *********************************************************************************************************** The spot is now permanent for all intents and purposes. I did everything my dermatologist said and then tried a home remedy. But after a year of no growth, I decided to accept it and move on. My hair is thick enough and gaining (extremely slowly) some length, so I can wear certain "out" styles with no one being any the wiser.
Why don't you do braids/twists with just your own hair year-round, if you don't mind me asking?
******************************************************************************* I mostly wear extensions when I'm super busy with life and don't want to be bothered with my hair. But they also help keep my hair from locing. Nothing against locs, but it is a style that just isn't for me. When I wear my own in braids or twists, it doesn't take long for it to start locing with me doing just a basic hair care regimen. Extensions allow me to have a protective style without that risk.
But once my hair is long enough to try some more ponytails and buns, I probably will stop with the extensions so much.
They are noticeably longer than the ones in your LHC album. Six weeks is really good, I've only gotten to one week as yet with plaits. I think I need to make them smaller.
******************************************************************************* Medium braids work the best for me. Just find a size you're comfortable with.
Do you ever plan to wear braids like this all summer, minus extensions? I keep putting off braiding my own and leaving it alone. I'll be trying it before the summer is out, at least for two weeks at a time. These look really good after 45 days.
******************************************************************************* Yes, I will one day. Maybe if it is still warm enough for me to co wash daily when I take my extensions out, I will give it another go round.
I've been thinking about braiding my own hair again. I used to in the 90s then I started going to the braid salons.. I stopped because they snatched my hair too tight (hello bumps, bald places and traction alopecia!) and the braiders were so bossy...i felt like a child or something!
I'm also worried that the synth hair will damage my fine strands..Maybe human hair but the cost and political stuff with that i dunno.
Braids are a great rest and they keep you from cutting..
Totally agree about the braids keeping you from cutting.
My hair is pretty fine also, so I I make sure to do a major protein treatment before I put the braids in. So far my hair hasn't suffered from the syn hair,
