Art. That's what this is. Art. Fine art. There's a lot going on here by way of the tried and true rules of art that make this a scene to hold a viewer for more than a glance.
Excellent perspective. Age: wrinkled faces and rusty cars/trucks/tractors make good subjects. How long did you look through the viewfinder before taking this one? Or should I ask how many more are there similar to this one and this is the "pic-o-the-litter?" :-)
Honestly, you shot this very artistically: imagination and forethought mingled with some knowledge.
Now you're talking my language! I love inside shots -- full frame blooms. You've well executed the Rule of Thirds. Simple color scheme, And as is with flowers: radiating lines and repeated patterns. Very fine shot!
Three kudos, two atta-girls and a half of a Three Muskateers bar. :-)
That is a most incredible beauty. You framed it nicely, too! Good DOF, even with the bottom right leaf in focus and supplying a bit more depth to the scene. WOW! The more I look at that flower the more absorbed I become in it. Thanks for sharing.
Super! I've forgotten how many varieties of Ginger there are. And they're so large. 3 years ago, Mom gave me some of her "Hidden Lilies" which are a variety of Ginger. If properly cared for, the leaves grow to over 3 feet high and the blooms, hidden down in the leaves are some ten inches tall. That's quite a beauty you have here.
Just kidding. Our ponds dry up in late summer every year. Even the 3.5 acre on sometimes goes way down.
You did a good job getting this close-up. Your DOF is very good, or you've been around enough to know how to shoot from a distance and get out the cropping shears, lol.
Aahh, the ol' Crabapple bloom! Your softened background is nice.
We had a lovely Crabapple Tree on our land until a couple years ago when one of our storms blew it down. After I found it a few years ago, it became special to my wife, so the loss of it didn't set too well.
Your short bio was pleasant reading and I hope your D200 proves to be what you're hoping for.
